Director of Power Management Products

Ferric is a technology startup based in New York City that is pioneering an entirely new approach to power delivery for Integrated Circuits and Electronic Assemblies. This approach leverages Ferric’s integration of thin-film magnetic inductors with CMOS technology to enable a significant improvement in the integration density and efficiency of voltage regulators (VRs) compared with existing commercially available technologies. 

As Ferric’s Director of Power Management Products, you will be responsible for development and commercialization of Ferric’s semiconductor products. The position requires extensive experience (10 plus years) in the semiconductor industry as well as a demonstrated track record of success in developing quality semiconductor products. The qualified candidate will have at least 5 years of experience managing a semiconductor product or design team at Sr. Manager or Director Level, preferably in the power electronics or MEMs technology space.

Primary Responsibilities: 

•    Manage Ferric’s semiconductor product through the full product lifecycle including concept, design, sample production, testing, forecast, cost, mass production, promotion, support and end-of-life

•    Develop the overall product strategy and roadmap in context of market, customer feedback and Ferric technology platform and roadmap.  This will require extensive visits to current and prospective customers/partners

•    Translate product roadmap into detailed Marketing Requirements Document and work closely with technical team to translate into a Product Requirements Document  

•    Create buy-in for the product vision and roadmap both internally and with key external partners

•    Work closely with the technical team (designers and apps engineers) to address customer design issues

•    Develop product launch materials and collateral (e.g. product pricing, datasheets, sales training materials, marketing launch materials)

•    Work with Sales to provide accurate forecasts for each product line  

•    Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Desired Skills and Experience
•    Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering/Electronics with 10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, business development, and applications with a focus on power electronics, especially power management IC’s, MEMS or voltage regulators
•    At least 5 years of experience working in product marketing or management at a Sr. Manager or Director level. Experience and an understanding of engineering and industrialization of power converters, high frequency circuits, analog circuits, mixed signal and digital circuits

•    Experience in project-based work and excellent planning and product management skills 

•    Pro-active and customer focused, self-motivated and comfortable working with a team of engineers 

•    Willing to travel both domestically and internationally on a regular basis (1week/month)

Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer

This approach leverages Ferric’s integration of thin-film magnetic inductors with CMOS semiconductor technology to enable a significant improvement in the integration density and efficiency of voltage regulators (VRs) compared with current commercially available technologies.

As a Ferric Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer, you will be part of a fast-paced and motivated design team working on cutting edge integrated voltage regulators. Your primary responsibilities will be to design, layout, and verify robust analog and mixed-signal circuit macros that are critical for the overall performance of Ferric IC’s. Additional responsibilities include working closely with business and applications teams to define chip specifications as well as with test engineers to define test plans for verifying and characterizing IC's. The position requires a strong mixed-signal IC design background and experience bringing IC's into high volume production. Applicants should be self-motivated and possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work well and contribute on a team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, layout, and verification of analog and mixed-signal circuits in various CMOS nodes

  • Research and investigate new circuit techniques to help improve Ferric IC's

  • Help with top-level simulations, verification, and tape-out of IC's

  • Participate in design reviews and create necessary design and product documentation

  • Work with business and applications teams to define agreeable specifications for upcoming IC's

  • Work with test engineers to develop test plans and test cases to verify, characterize, and debug designs

Minimum Qualifications

  • MSEE or BSEE with 2+ years of experience in full-custom CMOS design

  • Design skills in areas such as bandgaps, ADC's/DAC's, PLL's, DLL's, LDO's, temperature sensors, switched-capacitor circuits, opamps, comparators, and biasing circuits.

  • CAD Software: Cadence Virtuoso Schematic and Layout, Spectre, APS, Calibre DRC/LVS/PEX

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing high switching frequency integrated voltage regulators in standard CMOS technologies

  • Experience designing analog and mixed-signal circuits in standard CMOS technologies with an emphasis on low-power consumption

  • Proven track record for for bringing mixed-signal designs into high volume production

  • Deep understanding of process and device physics concepts

  • Familiarity with mixed signal verification methodologies

  • Ability to layout critical analog and mixed-signal circuits

  • Experience with backend verification tools including EMIR, static/dynamic MOSFET voltage checks, etc

  • Experience with Monte Carlo analysis

  • Languages: Verilog, Verilog-AMS, Python, Perl, Tcl, Cadence Skill, Matlab
